The Advanced Training stage is the final stage of the actors training at the Actors Door Studio. Students who successfully complete Stage 2 / Acting Technique II will be invited to join this third and final stage of training.
The focus of the third stage, is characterisation. Characterisation, is central to developing three dimensional characters and giving powerful, believable performances on stage and screen.
Each week you will progressively learn how to develop compelling and truthful characters so that the characters you play are as ‘real’ on stage and screen, as you are in your everyday life.
During this stage, you will also learn how to apply skills in character development to scene work and monologues.
Preparation time outside of class is essential.
To finish Stage 3 / Advanced Acting, students need to successfully complete the core ‘modules’ that are taught over the Advanced stage.
Time to complete Stage 3 is variable and depends on your natural abilities, your motivation and your commitment to the course. Committed students complete the AAT over 3 blocks (6-8 months).
To join the Stage 3 program you need to have successfully completed Stage II / Acting Technique II at the Actors Door Studio. If you have completed Meisner training elsewhere and you think this is the appropriate level for you, please contact the studio to discuss your suitability for the course with the studio’s artistic director.
